Biography

Arim Fremont, born in St. Louis, Missouri, began taking piano lessons at the age of six. She is currently a senior at Washington University in St. Louis, where she is majoring in Philosophy–Neuroscience–Psychology on the cognitive neuroscience track and minoring in music.
From an early age, she was drawn to classical music, particularly the expressive intensity of the Romantic era. This early fascination has continued to shape her musical interests, with a special admiration for composers such as Franz Liszt and Sergei Rachmaninoff. Among her favorite works are Ballade No. 1 in G minor, Op. 23 by Frédéric Chopin and Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, pieces that reflect her appreciation for both technical brilliance and emotional depth. While she mostly enjoys playing Romantic repertoire, Arim’s musical tastes have also been shaped by early exposure to the minimalist elements of Philip Glass through her father’s love of his work.

Thank you

I would like to thank my piano teacher and mentor, Professor Amanda Kirkpatrick, for sharing with me a deep and lasting love for music. Her guidance and dedication have shaped not only my playing but also the way I connect with the repertoire. I am also grateful to all of my past music instructors, each of whom has contributed in meaningful ways to my musical growth and curiosity. Finally, I would like to thank my family, whose unwavering support has been foundational to this journey. They have always encouraged me to continue, surrounding me with classical music and bringing me to concerts, orchestras, and symphonies. Looking back, those experiences are what sustained and deepened my appreciation for music, and ultimately brought me to where I am today.
