Practice Rooms

Practice rooms are located in Lopata House, the 560 Music Center, and in many of the University's dormitories. If you discover any problems with practice room pianos, please report them to Keith Wehmeier at k.wehmeier@wustl.edu. 

560 Music Center
Practice Rooms and Lesson Studios: 
Monday - Friday; 8:30 am - midnight;
Sat/Sun: 9:00 am - midnight
Closed on University Holidays and adjusted hours over Winter Break

Summer Hours: 
9:00 am - 10:00 pm M-F;
Noon- 6:00 pm Sat/Sun

You must bring your WashU ID to swipe into these locations. 

Practice Room Guidelines: 

• Please help us maintain our instruments by refraining from eating or drinking in the practice modules.
• All undergraduate students have card access to the practice rooms. Graduate students and faculty can request access by emailing your name and WashU ID number to Jessica Flannigan: flanniganj@wustl.edu
• Percussion practice rooms and classroom drum set access is only available to students currently enrolled in percussion lessons, or those who are playing percussion in a Music Department ensemble. No exceptions. Contact Jessica Flannigan for access: flanniganj@wustl.edu
• Locked Steinway practice rooms are only available with permission from Amanda Kirkpatrick. Contact: akirkpat@wustl.edu
• Ensemble rooms at the 560 Music Center may only be reserved by officially recognized SU Groups and students who are all actively involved in Department Ensembles.
• ​​​​​​​If a group qualifies for ensemble room usage, students must additionally have written permission from Professor Bill Lenihan to use the drum kit and/or amplifiers in Ensemble rooms. Contact Prof. Lenihan (wlenihan@wustl.edu) and copy Jamie Perkins (jmperkin@wustl.edu) to receive permission to use the drums and amps.

Dorms
Practice rooms are available in many of the University's dormitories.  For specific information, locations, or questions about use of these practice rooms, please contact Residential Life at 935-5050.

Instrument Storage

For questions about instrument storage, please contact musicsupport@wustl.edu.

Instrument lockers are only available to students enrolled in lessons and ensembles and are available on a first come first served basis. The instrument storage locker spaces are at the 560 Music Center. There are no instrument storage facilities on the main campus.
