Matthew Kuebler is a tubist and educator whose career encompasses more than three decades of professional performance, university teaching, and military musical service. 

Kuebler served for 20 years with the United States Air Force Band of Mid-America, performing nationally and internationally with its Concert and Ceremonial Bands, Brass Quintet, Woodwind Quintet, jazz ensemble Shades of Blue, and popular music ensemble Hot Brass. He retired as a Master Sergeant in 2021.

Kuebler regularly performs with Clarion Brass, Metropolitan Orchestra of St. Louis, and at the First Presbyterian of Kirkwood and the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis. Additionally, he has performed with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, Richmond Symphony, Evansville Philharmonic, and the Jack Daniel’s Original Silver Cornet Band. His work spans classical, jazz, and popular music, including performances with Tower of Power and John Legend. Kuebler’s recording credits include numerous releases with the USAF Band of Mid-America as well as collaborations with Gerry Pagano, Tom Coster, and the People’s Band and Congress of Musicians. 

Kuebler currently teaches at McKendree University, where he has been a member of the faculty since 2009, and at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, where he has taught since 2019. He holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of Kentucky, where he studied tuba with Dr. Skip Gray, and a Master of Music from Indiana University Bloomington, where he studied with Dan Perantoni and Harvey Phillips. He also pursued doctoral studies at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, studying with Tim Northcut.
